I had the honour and pleasure to work on Misha Glenny’s McMafia: Crime without Frontiers, for which I received a nomination for Ryszard Kapuściński Award for Literary Reportage.

My main area of expertise is literary translation. I work with fiction and non-fiction, children’s stories, whodunits, guidebooks, thrillers, and comic books for adults and children alike.

I also like to assist artists, entrepreneurs and bloggers, which is why I offer transcreation services. When you have an idea, but need to find the right words to reach your potential audience or clients, this is something I’m keen on doing.

Below you can see samples from my portfolio.

I’ve been working for major Polish publishers since 2004. I have translated more than a hundred books so far, and among the major titles I can list:

McMafia. Crime without Frontiers  by Misha Glenny, W.A.B. (the book was nominated for the Ryszard Kapuscinski Award for Literary Reportage)
The Suspicions of Mr Whicher  by Kate Summerscale, W.A.B.
Poison in the Blood: The Memoirs of Lucrezia Borgia  by M.G. Scarsbrook, Bellona.

As regards non-literary texts, I specialise – as aptly illustrated in the photo – in horsemanship, equestrian sports, horse care, riding equipment, and all things horses. Since living things are drawn to one another, I also happily work on content related to other animals, domesticated or not. The field of natural sciences is my thing not only as far as translation is concerned. This is also my number one as regards content creation. And if I can combine nature with art or fashion, and add a pinch of literary imagination, I’m in my element.

In 2014 I obtained the qualifications of a sworn translator, certified by the Polish Ministry of Justice.

I appreciate every challenge and opportunity for creative word games. This is also why I am always keen to translate jokes and children’s stories.

  • I have worked with Maria for the past year and have found her to be hardworking and dedicated. She is a team lead for one of our large fashion clients and has done a great job keeping the quality high and the team happy. She is organised, communicative and has an adaptable approach to work.

  • Maria Jaszczurowska is the perfect translator. We suspect her texts must be prepared by a whole team of people, because it’s quite impossible for a single person to provide such a high quality of service within such short deadlines. Nevertheless, we are not inclined to recommend her services, because once you learn about her incredible skill, we will lose a great translator. Therefore we suggest you look for someone else 😊

  • At Pathways Polska we have been working with Maria Jaszczurowska for many years now. Maria translates our promotional and marketing materials and offers for clients quickly and accurately. We do appreciate her good timing, availability and communication with us.
